Fatal shooting at small Birmingham party on Mother’s Day 2017 still unsolved; police seek help

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in a Mother’s Day 2017 homicide that remains unsolved.

The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. that Sunday, May 14, 2017, in the 3400 block of Boise Avenue.

Tyler Griffin, 32, was attending a small party at the home when police say Griffin and the unknown suspect got into an argument and Griffin turned to walk away.

That’s when the shooter fired several shots, and Griffin collapsed face down in the side yard. He was pronounced dead on the scene with at least one gunshot wound to the back.

An older woman, described by police as the owner of the home where the shooting happened, told police that night said she heard at least three shots.
